About the show

This was the second annual show. Its theme, Barrington, Yesterday and Today, turned up in the club newsletters. The 1988 to 1989 committee list names the spring co-chairs, Nancy Baldwin and Julie Schmidt, and that matches an album page labelled Fashion Show 1989, Nancy Baldwin. A newspaper preview fills in the rest. The show was held on March 11 at Watercress Banquets in Palatine, and the theme blended current fashions for women, men and children from area merchants with a display of costumes from 1860 to 1960 lent by the Barrington Historical Society. Makeup was by The Total Look, hair by B.J. & Company, and Barrington Flower Shop donated the centerpieces. A silent auction and a raffle for a $500 gift certificate to Just Furs rounded out the day, and the committee report shows the show cleared about $5,900. A printed program, likely designed by Lorraine Whitney, is still the best lead for the cover artwork.

If you have a program book, a photograph or a memory of this show, the club would like a copy for the archive.
